Part 3 - Drumheller and the Hoodoos

You can read part 1 and part 2 about our trip if you click on the links. Part 3 is about our trip out to Drumheller and the Hoodoos. We got up early and headed out from Calgary to Drumheller. It was really beautiful with the open roads and fields of gold. (the fields were yellow and made it look like gold. It was very beautiful)

I had a hard time believing that we would get into the desert and was surprised as we approached Drumheller and the scenery changed so much. Drumheller is a really neat place. There were fake dinosaurs all over the town including a big one at the visitor's center. They called it the world's largest dinosaur and you could go up inside of it but I didn't go as there were too many people. I am putting up a picture of it for everyone to see. I can cross something off my bucket list:

#56 -Visit Drumheller in Alberta

We drove around and then made our way out to the Hoodoos which was close by. I had never been to the unique rock formations before. Master had been and was glad to take the family out to see them. Another thing off my bucket list:

#139 -See the Hoodoos in Alberta

We got in the car afterwords and went out the Royal Tyrrell Museum. We decided not to go in though. The kids were impatient and the teen doesn't like dinosaurs. Both of them seemed anxious to get to Edmonton. We were going to stay overnight but then changed our minds and headed up towards Edmonton. A big storm came into Drumheller as we were leaving. It was amazing to watch as the sky got black and we could see the lightening and hear the loud thunder. We went down a road that seemed to go on forever. I fell asleep for a quick nap in the car.

We made a stop at Tim Hortons and then headed up to Edmonton. We were amazed by the gas prices near Red Deer. Master was happy to fill up the tank and we both noticed the huge savings from where we live in B.C. Gas prices are quite high out here. We headed to Edmonton and I will write about that in my next post.

May the force be with you all!!

Loved this an all the other parts of the trip. Driving the beautiful roads past the fields of Alberta with that storm behind us was an experience I'll never forget. Was so glad to share my experiences of Drumheller with My family, too.
